Protea Counseling & Consultation Group, PLLC does not accept insurance. Our therapists are dedicated to providing high-quality services to every client and are firmly committed to each person’s privacy and confidentiality. At Protea, you and your therapist are the only people that know you are in therapy and your session notes are private records. When insurance companies pay for your treatment, their employees (clinicians or not) have access to your treatment plans and session notes, thus risking your privacy and confidentiality. Insurance companies operate on a medical model, meaning they require a diagnosis to establish that you have “a medical necessity” to seek services in order to pay providers. Unfortunately, most insurance companies do not consider developmental/attachment trauma, existential issues, life-transitions, relationship issues, personal development, or self-improvement as “a medical necessity”. If a diagnosis is given, it will become a part of your medical record.  This could present issues for you later on, and your decision-making might be called into question due to your emotional state.

We will provide you with all the necessary documentation should you decide to file with your insurance company, Please keep in mind your insurance company can place diagnostic information on the National Medical Database that is accessible by others.

Fees range from $75-$200 per session for individual therapy, and $125-$250 per session for couples and family therapy. We accept Cash, Check, Credit Card (Visa, MC, Amex, Discover), FSA/HSA Cards.
